The short answer is that no one likes leaving money on the table, so I expect D&E will get adapted eventually. But I don’t think that material would readily lend itself to serialized adaptation, since the stories are such self-contained units. How would you spin out “The Mystery Knight” to fill a season? Or even half a season? You could do it as a series of TV movies, I guess, but the tonal and narrative shifts between each of them has been so radical, how do you calibrate that for an audience? And how would you know how to handle it with fully half of that series of stories not yet written? It’d take some doing to get it right, much more so than might be apparent at first glance given how comparatively streamlined and simple they are versus A Song of Ice and Fire proper.
